It is almost impossible to really learn about the natural world on the Internet. Sorry.

Actually, that's totally not true at all. The internet can help you find stuff to do. Speaking as one internet obsessed person, HOW to use the internet to enrich your experience and contribution back to the earth is not exactly clear cut. That's part of why we started up this project.
One of the most challenging parts of getting outdoors in new ways is finding something to do, with cool people. When I look, I almost always find cool events that already happened, events for kids that don't suit me, events way too far away...and numerous other lame problems. Also, not everyone feels safe going out into the woods on hikes, or hanging out in Central Park at night.
Also, nature events are kind of dorky. Try getting your friends to get up early in the morning to go birding...or worse, try waking yourself up...(!)
There are a million reasons to not get out there and go do something, but that's not really going to do much for you or the earth.
Actually, these events are really really cool!
And we want you to attend!
We have no idea what events happen near you...you're going to need to find something to go to. We're here to help. Trust us, it's going to be great.
